Below, you will find a step-by-step growing guide.

Urban Farm, Rimi, and Nutriloop have launched an inspiring pilot project with the aim of supporting natural nutrient circulation, or bio-circulation. Nutrient-rich compost is produced from production residues and bio-waste collected from Rimi's fruit and vegetable department. This sustainable process involves the fermentation of bio-waste, the combination of vegetable waste and production residues, the production of vermicompost, and finally, mixing with peat. The resulting substrate is used in the cultivation of new plants and in the provided cultivation kit.

The initiative promotes a circular economy, reducing the need for synthetic fertilizers. This sustainable approach is valuable, as natural soil and organic nutrients enable plants, as well as humans post-meal, to better absorb nutrients in symbiosis with the microbiome.

Sugar Snap Pea Shoots Growing Step-by-Step Guide:

Seeds and soil preparation:

Open the growing kit, take out the seeds from the package and place them in a 0.5-liter container.

Add water to the container and let the seeds soak for 30 minutes.

Level the soil and moisten it; we recommend using a sprayer or atomizer. Close the container with a lid to allow moisture to evenly absorb into the soil.

Soaking:

After 30 minutes, carefully pour out the water and replace it with new water.

Place the container with seeds in a dark place (e.g., a cupboard) and let them soak overnight.

Sowing process:

Open the box lid and moisten the peat once again.

Drain the water from the seeds and sow them onto the prepared soil surface, distributing them evenly.

Close the box with the lid and place it in a dark, warm location.

Open the box once a day and spray water on the seeds.

When the sugar snap pea shoots start pushing against the box lid, remove the lid and place them on a windowsill in the light.

Care and Growth:

Water once a day, not exceeding 100 ml of water, and avoid over-watering.

If the plants are larger than 5 cm, you can water them several times a day.

When the sugar snap pea shoots reach approximately 7–15 cm, you can trim them with scissors.

Consumption:

Edible parts are the young sugar snap pea shoots (stems with leaves).

Add them to salads, dishes, or use them as snacks.

Storage:

You can store cut plants in an airtight box in the refrigerator for 1 week.

New plants can grow from cut stems, which need to be regularly watered and grown.
